How We Test VPNs

Every review on this site is built from hands-on use of the provider's own apps across the platforms they support, a read-through of their current published privacy policy and pricing pages, and realistic day-to-day usage scenarios rather than a synthetic lab benchmark presented as a universal score.

What we look at

• App experience: setup, everyday usability, platform coverage
• Policy: what the provider's privacy policy and jurisdiction actually say
• Pricing structure: plan tiers and how the effective price changes with commitment length
• Fit: which real-world use cases a provider is and isn't well suited to

What we deliberately avoid

We don't publish a specific benchmark number (speed, latency) as a fixed fact, since real-world performance depends heavily on your own network, location, and server choice. We don't cite a review count, rating, or "audited" claim unless we can point to where that number or audit actually comes from. Where we haven't independently confirmed a specific figure, we say so rather than presenting an estimate as fact.
